JINS Munakata
It is a design project for a roadside store of eyewear brand JINS. The site is slightly away from city centre but facing National Route 3, which is the main artery of Kyushu - one of 4 major islands in Japan.
In this project, we aim to provide a purchasing experience that was unavailable in the shop-in-shop format by taking advantage of the characteristics of roadside stores.
Since glasses are an item that you can wear all day long. Therefore, it is ideal to have a retail space where you can recall everyday life outdoors even inside the store. Unlike shop-in-shop retail store, roadside stores could have proper outdoor environment such as planting. Atmosphere of the outdoor space and the indoor space can be connected seamlessly by taking the outdoor scenery to inside of the store. Interior materials and colours which have common element with the one in outdoor could also connect between them.
Glasses is a part of the body. It is always with you no matter you are in a park or out in town, or you are in your pyjama at home. Glasses you choose may change depending on scene of your life you imagine.
It is a retail store where you can enjoy shopping while you are thinking about everyday life in various situation.
In addition, as a roadside architecture, It is aimed to be both a role as an impactful signboard that can be recognised while driving a car, and a cozy place you want to stop by.
A powerful black cubic shape which JINS red logo can stand out, and open interior space that connects to the lush green outdoors. In order to achieve both of these, the walls that play the role of signboards, the windows that give openness, and the plants that give comfort are arranged in a well-balanced manner.
